Challenge Complete
February was a month I decided to challenge myself. My challenge was to not go out to eat for the entire month. Today is March 1st and my challenge is officially over. It went faster than I thought it would and actually, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Some of the main goals I had were to lose some weight and see how it affected my blood pressure and cholesterol and to see just how...

The last day
It’s the fiiiinalllll counnnttddooowwwnnnnn! Remember that song? If you don’t, watch the video below. Such a catchy tune. I am almost as excited about the Asian man crossing the finish line in the feature post picture. He’s happy, I’m happy and I’m sure if we knew each other, we’d be singing the final countdown together. At the end of the day I think I should...

Pancakes!
Two more days of my E3 challenge. I can’t imagine how mad I would be if I broke down and went out to eat. It’s just not going to happen.
Although I am promoting the “Not going out to eat” lifestyle, I will admit, sometimes you just want to go out to eat. There is nothing wrong with that, so to help my readers who have not seen the news this morning, today is NATIONAL...

Coming down the home stretch
The last week of the E3 challenge is here. Four days left. It has been progressively easier each week, yet the hardest time I have not going out to eat is on the weekends, especially lunch. It seems as most of the time I am making a sandwich and those are getting pretty old. Although that is the toughest part, I really think the lifestyle change I have made is going to stick with me. I can see...

Approaching the back 9.
With only 6 days left of my E3 challenge, I have been contemplating what I can do to continue this trend. Obviously not going out to eat at all is a little extreme, but I feel pretty good about my accomplishment so far. Not once have I slipped up. There have been times that I have craved things. Jason’s Deli French Onion Soup for example. I love that stuff, and can’t wait to get a bowl...

Pitchers and Catchers report today!
So apparently I have suffered from my first migrane. It started Monday night when I felt a real dull headache that didn’t seem to go away when I took advil. Yesterday on the way to work my eyes were itching and my headache was still there. By Noon my entire head felt like it was going to explode. I had never felt that sensation before and had no idea what was going on. I came home from...

Mardi Gras season is here! Being a fan of everything New Orleans, I’ve always wanted to get down to Bourbon street and experience Mardi Gras. I have been to Bourbon Street a couple of times, but have yet...

10 days left
It seems so long ago that I started The Elective Eat-in Endeavor, but the end is almost near. When I started I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it has been. There were some tough times earlier in the challenge, but now, it is a piece of cake. I do have to admit though, sandwiches are becoming less and less appealing, and they are one of my favorite foods. When in a hurry, a sandwich is...

Better late than never.
For those of you that have been reading the blog, you will notice I usually write my blog posts early in the morning. I like to have it up for people to read before they ever even get to work. I like to think my readers make it part of their morning routine, like checking their email or reading their favorite websites. This morning was difficult for me because I had an early morning dentist...

16 days left
16 days left of my E3 challenge and things are going very well. This weekend posed the first time I had to dramatically alter my plans to avoid going out to eat. My sister-in-law and her family were celebrating her birthday by going out to eat. Knowing this in advance I was prepared. As her entire family went out to eat, I went back home, fixed a delicious and healthy meal, Pan seared Southwestern...

Friday, Friday... gotta get down on Friday
Another week has passed and we made it. Physically, we’ve made it. Mentally, I’m beat. Last night some of the guys on my bball team and I played some serious bball. I feel like I have been hit by a truck. I guess creeping into old age is starting to catch up to me. With the weekend starting tomorrow, I am looking forward to having a couple of days off. The wife is back in town after...

Quick Update!
So things at work are pretty busy today and tomorrow. My coworker is out of town for a couple of days and I’m sure whatever she had coming to her will overflow to me. Not exactly what I’m looking for. I guess it could be worse…
Also, I recently picked a name for the February Challenge. It was a combination of something I thought of and some key words posted by a reader....

Day 8 is great. Gym, Grocery store, zombie attack?
Today is Wednesday, Feb 8th. Today was supposed to be the day that I had a to choose from so many different options to name the February Challenge. I’ve received about four. I have a name in mind, but I need to make a logo for it, so I’m extending the deadline for any suggestions until Friday. If you have an idea for a name, send it to me, there are prizes.
Last night I went out with...

Feb 3rd
Day three of February has approached quickly! Although it has only been 3 day without going out to eat, it feels like it has been a week. Today will be a tough challenge because Friday lunch day is usually reserved for work lunches that may or may not take a little longer than our allotted hour. I am going to have to find a hobby to do on Friday around Noon. Guitar center here I come!
Also, on...
Boring lunch
Had a boring salad and lean cuisine meal. Nothing exiting enough to blog about, so I will just note it here.
I won’t even include a picture because it was so boring.
